Quote of the Day:
'Victims gradually lose their ability to make independent decisions and exercise informed consent.'

My son and MJB SEMINARS…. My Story
(Name Withheld)

This is my honest personal opinion from personal experience. Others may have had more positive experiences, you are free to seek these too before forming an opinion.

One of my sons was searching for a way to better his life.

He tried a group called Inspire that was teaching him about investment and real estate/stocks/bonds etc as well as self development. While involved with this group he met some people who were going to MJB SEMINARS and he went along too. He had been through a terrible marriage and divorce and much trauma with a vindictive ex wife constantly harassing him.

After the seminar my sons were encouraged to invite as many newcomers as possible to their "Graduation evening" or to "Information evenings".

My son told me he was most impressed by the demonstrations on a whiteboard of some basic Quantum Physics and Quantum Mechanics and the wave theory that all matter is the same it is just vibrating at different speeds.
Light vibrates fast so it is transparent.
Metal vibrates slow so it is solid.

This made sense because Mitch claims to be teaching from the Laws of the Universe in his many advertisements on Google.

My son kept encouraging me that even though I am on a centrelink income I could still afford to go to the seminar because if I could not afford to pay up front they will allow you to sign up to do the Seminar and pay it off at what you can afford regularly "because they don’t want you to miss out on such a good thing"

"It is an investment in yourself". It begins with "Relationships and You" Seminar.

One son has been to two seminars and taken his brother to the 'Relationships and You Seminar' - the younger brothers partner has also done R&Y they were not at all aware of the fact that what they have been experiencing is clearly from my experience, cognitive psychotherapy techniques.

I tried to warn them when I heard about some of the things they went through but they did not listen to me. They said they are not allowed to tell anyone what happens because if they know what is going to happen it will not work properly for them if they know what to expect. As far as I can tell, people are not warned that Cognitive Psychotherapy techniques will be used on them.

My son told me that the R&Y seminar involves long hours of training. They attend from Friday evening to Sunday evening and the hours are very long, I think they suffer sleep deprivation, and there are strictly restricted toilet times.

Most people choose to go with the flow when in a group as is often demonstrated in psychology experiments.

I was told that this controlled environment was maintained because anyone who breaks the rules holds up the groups progress, so that eventually the group will resent any dissenters; so the leaders authority is quickly established and reinforced for the duration of the seminar.

My son actually took me through part of the process via a phone call- (which he said he WASN'T supposed to do), it was supposed to be face to face AT A PAID SEMINAR, he told me he has done this at seminars with people.

Obviously I did not have someone to react with, but he took me through some of the questions in the process as he tried to convince me that if I had not been through traumas etc I would not have "gained" the insight I now have - therefore the Universe was loving me all the time. This was his attempt to convince me that MJB is good; because he read out a lot of questions and followed his script from notes, I heard the paper rustling and queried if he was using notes and he said "YES". He said they probably will not let me do the seminar now. "If you know what is going to happen it wont work properly ".

From what I learned in this phone conversation, you will be talked into remembering something traumatic from your childhood and you will have to choose someone out of about 50 people attending, to be your substitute "parent" or who ever it was that you feel you have issues with.

This partner will take you through this exercise and then convince you that if you had not been raped, abused, neglected, hurt, abandoned, whatever, then you would not have "gained" the things the experience has taught you.

You will be hopefully convinced that "the Universe" was loving you the whole time, and you should see the love in what happened.
Dont you "Get it"?

My son's partner told me she found it very hard tiring work and that she finally "got it". Towards the end-my son told me similar... but also, a local lass told me about a friend who attended and was shattered by the experience as she was singled out for abuse and recrimination all the time by the leader, and felt she was "a total failure", "could not get anything right" "everything you said and did was wrong".

The end of this story was that the girl became a weeping wreck at work and had to leave and return to NZ because of the effect of the MJB seminar on her emotional stability.

I can only imagine that after being psychologically manipulated through many more similar exercises during the weekend you will feel a great sense of relief that it is finally over and everyone will be feeling relieved that they are no longer being singled out for criticism in front of the group anymore.

My sons were encouraged to do homework... I heard one of my sons receiving several phone calls from MJB encouraging him into inviting others to the 'Graduation evening' and 'Information evenings'.

One of my sons even posted an open invitation on his Facebook business page. He is a DJ and I shudder to think of how many young people may be coaxed into attending MJB because of his persona.

He gets lots of regular phone calls about your "homework" inviting more people, tell more people.

The numerous Google advertisings says your life will be transformed in 48 hours - on his own sites I saw that people have repeated the same courses - check out his Facebook site one person has done the 'Prophet Teacher Student course' several times. If as in his google ad he can transform your life in 48 hours then why does he run so many other seminars as well?

Mitch J Behan claims he will transform your life in 48 hours, and there is just one catch, you have to go to more and more Seminars to stay transformed.

My son has coaxed his brother to join in the seminars and now both sons are angry with me for trying to point out to them the unnatural adulation that all the people have for Mitch and how they are paying so much money for something that is to me apparently not effective.

If a therapist or counsellor uses psychotherapy on a client they are supposed to keep a distance, not socialise with the client, form friendships with the client, employ the client.
WHY?

because it can cause TRANSFERRANCE which basically means the bonds of trust established as a person allows another to plumb the depths of their psyche, means that the client is in the position of "child" and the therapist is the authority/parent figure emotionally and the client is therefore at risk of manipulation by the therapist and will also adulate the therapist... very unhealthy for the client.

From what I have seen, Mitch and his team break ethical boundaries that an ETHICAL QUALIFIED therapist would maintain.

THAT IS NOT ETHICAL.

No one should be using psychotherapy on people without informing them of the techniques and providing a multidisciplinary support team like you would find in a psychiatric hospital to give the person support for the duration of their treatment which could last for 1 to 5 years.

My son told me this occurs with groups of about 50 people and he has personally been a participant and acted as the substitute "parent" "spouse" "family member" for quite a few people attending the one seminar. In such an environemt, people are told to partner up and use these powerful psychological techniques on each other with no qualified oversight.

Contrast this to therapy with an ethical qualified practitioner, where each person is unique and requires the therapy to be tailored to their individual needs and with their knowledgable consent and co-operation in targeting the areas of need with their therapist before commencing treatment.

What worries me is that it is not healthy for the participants, and it could be seen as simply a money making machine for Mitch J Behan.

My sons threaten to cut off all communication with me.
Why?

Because I tried to tell them that what they are learning is unscriptural and is wrong according to the Bible - and ethical counselling standards.

Because I told them that the methods/techniques being used could be unethical and dangerous to mental and emotional wellbeing of participants.

Because I told them not to try to convert their younger brothers.

Because I told them I could not support them in this and I would not attend the "Graduation" evening or any seminars.

All the time I have kept telling them that I love them and that I am concerned for their wellbeing.

I sincerely hope as a loving mother, they can break free of this cult-like control.
